Maine Media Directory-Downeast and Northern Maine
Are you ready to pitch your book or an upcoming event to the media?
Here's a journalism pro-tip: unless you're a well-known name, most newspapers will only be interested in a press release from a local author from that newspaper's region--or if the book is set in that region. That's why I've broken out the media directories into several Maine regions--because unless you are doing a statewide blitz, you may only need smaller lists in your region or where your book was set.
This directory of newspapers, magazines, and TV news stations from Downeast and northern Maine was thoroughly researched and provides the names, towns, editors/news desks, emails, and websites of each media outlet. Where applicable, it also contains notes on who provides articles and reviews on books. It also includes a section for Author’s Notes you can customize. It is delivered as a view-only Google Sheet to protect the master file. You can easily make your own editable copy in less than a minute.
Note: This directory was created on Google sheets; so you must have a Gmail account in order to access it. In the instructions, you will be able to create your own private, editable copy of the directory.
These resources do not guarantee media coverage. They provide accurate contact information, an example pitch structure, and best practices based on current newsroom constraints.
